R v Arcand, 2010 ABCA 363 is a landmark Alberta Court of Appeal case. The facts of Arcand were used as an opportunity by the Court to discuss the significance of starting point sentences. These types of sentences are court created and court mandated starting points which must be followed by lower courts in deciding what a fit and proper sentence is for convicted persons.
